Transition of medical laboratories to the version of ST RK ISO 15189-2023

Please note that this is important training that will help your medical laboratory meet the highest standards of quality and competence. According to ILAC Resolution GA 26.08, the ISO 15189:2022 version standard, published in December 2022, replaces the ISO 15189:2012 version standard (ST RK ISO 15189-2015). This means that it is important to be prepared for the transition to a new version of the standard.

According to resolution ILAC Resolution GA 26.08, the standard version ISO 15189:2022 "Medical laboratories. Requirements for quality and competence", published in December 2022, replaces the standard version ISO 15189:2012 (ST RK ISO 15189-2015).

From January 1, 2026, the validity of all accreditation certificates confirming competence for compliance with the requirements of ST RK ISO 15189-2015 are considered invalid.

The transition of medical laboratories to the version of ST RK ISO 15189:2023 will be carried out from January 1, 2024.

To switch to a new version of the standard you must:

develop a plan for the laboratory’s transition to ST RK ISO 15189:2023;
conduct external training of key employees on the standard ST RK ISO 15189-2023;
make changes to the medical laboratory management system taking into account new requirements;
submit an application (transition plan) with updated documented procedures for the medical laboratory management system to the NCA for assessment of compliance with ST RK ISO 15189-2023.
