Measurement uncertainty in GOST ISO/IEC 17025

Measurement uncertainty in GOST ISO/IEC 17025

Why do we need measurement uncertainty in GOST ISO/IEC 17025?

In the GOST ISO/IEC 17025 standard "General requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories", measurement uncertainty plays an important role. Here are a few reasons why it is a key component in this standard:

Accuracy assessment: Measurement uncertainty allows us to assess how accurate our measurement results are. It gives an idea of the spread of results and allows us to interpret and use the results with a certain degree of faith.

Decision calculation: Accounting for measurement uncertainty helps us make informed decisions based on measurements. Knowing the uncertainty, we can determine how much the differences between the values are statistically or practically significant.

Conformity assessment: GOST ISO/IEC 17025 requires an assessment of the compliance of laboratory competence and measurement results with the requirements of standards or other regulatory documents. Taking into account the uncertainty helps to understand how well the measurement results fit within the permitted limits.

International recognition: GOST ISO/IEC 17025 is an international system of standards recognized in many countries. Accounting for measurement uncertainty, in accordance with the standard, provides laboratories with worldwide recognition and trust.

Taking into account the uncertainty of measurements, we can improve the quality of our measurements and be confident in the reliability of our results!
